Hi... welcome to the Gurukula's English 50 website. This website's purpose is to serve as a storehouse for information for English 50 classes taught by teachers in the Gurukula, a teachers learning community. These teachers include Barbara Jensen, RoseLee Hurst, Cher Finley, Nivedita Rajagopal, Greg Matukitis, Evelyn Metcalf, and Jane Wilson. Although the Syllabus and Assignment Sheet are specific to Mrs. Jensen's classes, the handouts are the same as those used in all the English 50 classes taught by Gurukula members. You are welcome to click on the "Handouts" link and connect to any handout you feel will be useful to you in your English 50 class or in any class you are taking that involves writing. Once on the "Handouts" menu page, you should find handouts that regard Essay Prompts, Essay Help, Grammar, Assignments (and Activities), and Miscellaneous Handouts. Please feel free to copy and print out anything you like. Additionally, check out the "Links" on the left side of this homepage. If you need information about essay writing, MLA format, or grammar elements, you should be able to obtain that information from one of those links. Near the bottom of "Links," you'll also find a link to an online dictionary and one link to a site that will give you textbook reading and marking strategies.
