Welcome to the website of Nita Rajagopal
My full name is Nivedita Rajagopal. I was named Nivedita by my grandfather, Anakru (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._N._Krishna_Rao). "Nivedita" simply means "the giving one." I have always been fascinated with literature and the art of writing. I love to read, write, and teach English Literature and language. I have been educated in India as well as the U.S. Though English is not my mother tongue, it has always been a primary language because I was bilingual from the crib. In fact, I learned the alphabet even before I learned the Devanagari script. Also, on a personal note, I am a mom of two lovely children.
This semester--spring 2008--I am teaching four sections of English 101. Of these, two sections are learning communities with Sociology 101. In the past, along with English 101, I have also taught English 50, American Literature to 1850, Women's Literature, Children's Literature, and Adolescent Literature.
